Mercer University, where I'm at right now. |
I am currently in Georgia, wrestling at the NCWA National Championship.
How, you ask?
Well, it's simple.
Two months ago, I joined the wrestling team at my school. I have a friend who's been wrestling for a long time now, practically her whole life, and somehow she managed to get me pumped enough about it to join. Many of you who have known me for a long time now, practically my whole life, probably think that I'm joking. There's no way that I could ever possibly WANT to do a sport that involves getting slammed to a mat and yanked around and everything else that wrestling is about.
GUESS WHAT, PALS? YOU'RE WRONG.
So anyway, girls wrestling is a considerably new sport, and there isn't an abundance of other teams here on the East Coast. In fact, our team was the only team in our conference (division? zone? section?) so we automatically qualified for Nationals.
cont'd...
That's how I find myself here in Georgia. That's also how I found myself pinned to the mat this morning, the #1 seed in my weight division lifting my head so I couldn't breathe. It was wonderful. Even though I lost, I could care less. A huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders. Nationals isn't this huge, looming scary thing on the horizon anymore. It's here, and it has finally begun for the girls wrestling team.
Anyway, I need to go and sleep and rest up for my second match tonight.
Hope ya'll have a good weekend! (haha I said ya'll again.)
NACHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
